More DIY Chaos!

Hello again Jayboy

Some more memory jerkers for us all from that wonderful period when we "helped" transform the house and garden at Balcombe Road.

You decided that you wanted a fairly large patio along the back wall of the house where the sun would be at its best. So ,as usual when the call came of course we said no problem ,piece of cake! You organised the paving slabs and we started the work on a very sunny Saturday. Minimal preparation as usual, but for the first 2/3 slabs we did actually use a spirit level! That became boring though,so the rest went down based on our trained eye. (not)
The next job was to take down an old greenhouse and erect a shed.Well as expected the greenhouse dismantling proved hilarious and pretty dangerous but we all escaped with only minor injuries.

We started to erect the shed, again a job never tackled before but well worth a try, after all it looks so easy! We had a few pieces in place and then Fiona turned up. As always she was very keen to help so we gave her a very important job holding up one of the sides. What she didnt know at the time was that it was self supporting and would have stayed up anyway!!At one time we all went inside and laughed at her out of the window, saying for goodness sake dont let go it will ruin all our work so far!! Eventually we allowed her to let go as more parts went up but we only told her some years later of our prank.

We decided after getting the shed up (quite well actually) that a few beers were in order. We sat on the lovely new patio and before we knew it the time had come to clean ourselves up ready to go to the Spanish restaurant in Horley for a well earned evening out.
The evening went well, plenty of wine consumed and then you and I Jay had a mint imperial fight,oh dear.
Then to finish off the evening (we were already in a bit of trouble) I decided to show off my gymnastic prowess by swinging over the railings at the subway entrance. My goodness I did get a huge bollicking from Sarah as apparently it was very dangerous.!!

You commented to Sarah that "you didnt remember seeing her angry before!!"

So back to yours and eventually off to bed.

More stories from Balcombe road soon.

Love always and forever "Pops" xx
