A Good Move?

Hi Jayboy

A story for you to remember and hopefully make you chuckle as much as we did on the day.

It started with Fiona announcing that she was moving to Cheltenham to live with Jill and were there any volunteers to help with the move? Well Sarah and I volunteered and somehow roped you in as well. We hired a large box type van filled it with most of her "treasure" and off we set for Cheltenham. It was a dry but very windy day and several times on the journey when the wind caught the side of the van and made it sway we could see you hanging on to the door and generally saying things like "oh my goodness, blimey " etc (not ) it was a bit stronger than that! You were of course dressed for the occasion with good shirt, disco shoes and best jacket!!

We arrived safely in Cheltenham and were met by Fiona and Jill who were to be the project managers for the unloading and siting of the contents of the van. We started the unloading, it all was going quite normally when we heard a shout of "where do you want this bloomin thing?" We all looked at the stairs (yes true to form with Fiona the flat was upstairs!) and we saw you coming up the stairs carrying a fridge single handed, one of those moments I guess where once you had grabbed it there was no going back!!

The rest of the contents were unpacked and sited then the fun really started.Fiona asked if I had a hammer and nails in the van, I asked why and she said to fit the shower on the wall please! Now as you know I am not a great DIY person but even I knew it needed more than a hammer and nails to fix up but not to disappoint her I found a hammer and some nails/screws and had a go, unfortunately all that happened was that a lot of fairly new plaster came off the wall. I gave up with it half fitted and swinging in the breeze, with a vague promise I would return and put it right.

Next job. Fiona asked you and I if we had any thing to put up some pictures for her. Well I know we can be resourceful but crikey!.. We found some net curtain wire, I cannot remember where it was from, we found a few screws and using the hammer got to work hanging pictures. Well as it was curtain wire and some of the pictures were quite heavy the result was that questions like "is it straight?" were answered with much laughter (mostly by Sarah and us two ) as, yes it is, no it isn't, as the pictures moved up and down.

We finished the jobs and polished off some takeaway pizza and some of the Fiona famous potato salad.

It was time for us to head off however Fiona decided that a big armchair was too big and could we take it back with us? Well we did put it in the van and then decided that we were not going to be lumbered with it next morning in the van so had a think and we all (apart from Fiona) came up with an idea that we thought was brilliant, like most of our ideas! We had spotted a garage with its door open and no car. What better place for an armchair to be put (dumped) so in it went and we started to drive away and Fiona was calling out, come back, don't leave me what will the garage owner say etc etc.

We drove off anyway and on the way home you were even more spooked by the wind and spent quite a time hiding under a broadsheet newspaper!

The next day we heard from Fiona and she had been visited by the owner of the garage who had only gone shopping! and she found out that Fiona had moved in the same day and she wanted to know if it was hers!! Fiona of course denied it and the last we heard was that Fiona had seen this elderly lady cutting the chair up with a saw!!

So a bit naughty but my goodness it was a day of laughter.

Love today on your birthday and everyday.

Pops and Sarah xxxx
