A Successful Valet!

Hi Jayboy

No apologies for another car story, cars did feature quite strongly one way or another!

Well, you had driven the Vauxhall SRi Cavalier for a while and now had the urge to change it for something "a bit sportier"

You started to look around and found a Renault 5 Turbo in Red you fancied a go at. I said if you arrange a viewing I will come with you and we can see what it looks and goes like.

I came home from work on the day you had arranged the viewing and could not believe that you had given the SRi a good clean up including polishing the roof and bonnet with a brillo pad!! Apparently the metallic Silver looked a bit dull so you had the great idea of using a brillo pad!

We were going down to Bilingshurst to see the Renault ,meeting the owner in a petrol station. I said whatever we do we must not stop under the forecourt lights as the "swirls" on the roof and bonnet were not for the faint hearted and would surely stop any potential deal being done.

We turned up,parked out of the bright lights, tried the Renault and against all the odds did a deal with the guy.He seemed to quite like the Cavalier you were part exing!

I believe he either had so much profit in the Renault that he didnt care or he was a little careless, but a few days later you had the car of your current dreams to bomb around in.

The Renault was really quick and held the road (mostly) like it was on rails!

Until the night on Lonesome Lane when the rails must have dissapeared,a farmer was engaged to pull you out of a ditch using his tractor.

No major damage done. The Renault lasted a while longer...........

Love "Pops" xx
